Brooklyn Gaoseb and John-Isaac Kaulinge met coaching and setting routes at a climbing gym in Windhoek. Long before that, the domes of Spitzkoppe were their backyard: family lived close by, and they spent their childhood scrambling the boulder fields and learning how the morning sun warms the rock.
Formal guide training gave structure to what they already knew, and they began taking climbers onto the Spitzkoppe faces. Private safari guiding followed, across northern Namibia and into the Caprivi and Bwabwata, where years on gravel roads taught them where elephants cross and where lions rest in the camelthorn shade.
Rufous Heron brings those two halves together: steep granite, desert passes, quiet waterholes and campfire hospitality, at the unhurried pace of a trip with friends. Brooklyn and John-Isaac guide many of the trips themselves, and as the company grows they work with guides they know and trust.
