The story behind our safari names

Tembo

Swahili for elephant

The word safari comes from Swahili and means “journey.” Inspired by this connection, we named our itineraries after animals in Swahili. Each animal reflects the character of a different journey, from Namibia’s desert and coast to adventures across Southern Africa.

Tembo means elephant in Swahili. Known for travelling great distances, the elephant inspired this extended journey across Southern Africa, connecting diverse landscapes, wildlife and cultures.
