Spitzkoppe and Swakop River
What to expect
Single-pitch routes are one rope length high: you climb to an anchor and are lowered back to the ground. Spitzkoppe has hundreds of them, at the base of the domes, on the Pontoks and on detached boulders, and we also climb along the Swakop River.
Your guide picks a crag that suits your experience and sets up the ropes. First-timers climb on a top rope, with coaching on footwork and smearing, where the coarse granite holds your shoe on surprisingly steep slabs.
Experienced climbers can lead bolted sport lines or protect cracks with trad gear. Choose a half day or a full day; the pace is yours, with rests in the shade between climbs.

Good to know
On the day
- No climbing experience is needed for a single-pitch day.
- We supply ropes, harnesses, helmets, belay devices and the trad rack.
- Bring your own climbing shoes and chalk bag; fit is personal.
- April to October is the best season: 18–26 °C days and cool rock.
- In summer we start at dawn and follow the shade.
- Every outing carries a first-aid kit; climbers should hold travel insurance that covers rescue.
Booking
- Rates are per person per day, with a minimum of 2 guests. Group discounts on request.
- Meals and drinks, accommodation, transport are not included.
- Booking a day at Spitzkoppe without one of our packages adds a guide drive-out fee of N$3,500 per booking.
- 50% deposit secures your booking; the balance is due 7 days before departure.
- The meeting point and start time are confirmed when you book.
