Sossusvlei & Deadvlei
The oldest desert and its red dunes
In the heart of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei is a clay pan ringed by some of the highest dunes on earth, glowing copper and apricot in the first light. Nearby Deadvlei holds the skeletons of 900-year-old camelthorn trees, preserved in white clay against the red sand.
